Back in 2021, Comics Plus received great reviews from Library Journal and School Library Journal, with LJ even declaring it one of the best databases they’d reviewed that year.
LibraryPass wasn’t even two years old at that point, so those reviews helped validate that we were making good progress in accomplishing our mission to curate high-interest, immersive digital content that helps schools and libraries expand and diversify their collections. Since then, we’ve added more than a dozen new publisher partners, thousands more titles, and continued to improve the user experience and performance every month. We’ve also grown to serve more than 3,500 schools and libraries in the US and beyond.
Today, we were surprised to learn that SLJ had given us another look, three years later, and still thinks very highly of Comics Plus!
The most important feature of Comics Plus is that it offers unlimited, simultaneous access to its materials. Readers of all ages have faced the disappointment of discovering that the books they want to read are not available on their library’s shelves, because they are checked out, missing, damaged, or unavailable.
Being able to offer a service in which a small reading group, an entire class, or an entire grade level can read the same book at the same time with no waiting period is an absolute game changer.
As a relatively small team working remotely from all over the US — many of whom have yet to meet each other in person — we value every bit of feedback we get about Comics Plus, especially from librarians, and this unexpected review absolutely lit up the company Slack all afternoon!
We won’t be resting on our laurels, though. We have an exciting product roadmap coming together for next year, including enhanced curation tools and continued performance improvements, not to mention even more great comics, manga, and picture books from our publisher partners, without whom Comics Plus wouldn’t exist.
