We’re looking forward to our favorite library event of the year, once again proudly sponsoring Library Journal and School Library Journal’s LibraryCon Live! on Thursday, November 6, 2025.
The free virtual event celebrates its 9th anniversary with a full day of programming featuring comics and manga, and is an excellent opportunity to expand your readers’ advisory recommendations. Some of our library-friendly publisher partners are also exhibiting this year, including Kodansha, Mad Cave, and Yen Press.
Be sure to check out our featured session, Comics & Manga RA for Middle Grade & Teens (11am ET / 8am PT) as we re-assemble our comics librarian dream team to share their reader’s advisory expertise on our favorite medium.
- Moni Barrette, Director, Collection Development for LibraryPass and a 2025 Library Journal Mover & Shaker
- Stella Bromley, Customer Engagement Specialist for LibraryPass and former Professional Resource Librarian, Austin ISD
- Ashley Hawkins, School Librarian in NYC and co-author of Manga Goes to School: Cultivating Engagement and Inclusion in K–12 Settings
They will discuss the differences between comics and manga; how to determine age-appropriate titles for different readers; and how to discover and recommend readalikes for comics and manga you haven’t read yourself.
The 60-minute session will be moderated by Guy LeCharles Gonzalez, and a Certificate of Completion will be available for all attendees.
