Manga is a global phenomenon, popular with readers of all ages, all around the world. It’s an expansive medium encompassing every genre you can think of — from fantasy and sci-fi to slice of life and nonfiction — and has inspired a generation of non-Japanese creators to tell their own stories. While you may have heard of some of the most popular manga series like Attack on Titan, Demon Slayer, My Hero Academia, and Naruto, if you’re responsible for building a diverse, representative collection of manga, you’re going to have to expand your knowledge beyond that.

In “How Manga Took Over the World,” a panel of manga experts — Deb Aoki (Mangasplaining), Frederick Jones (Saturday AM), and Kae Winters (TOKYOPOP) — share their insights on everything you need to know about manga to serve new and avid readers alike. This LibraryCon Live session was moderated by LibraryPass’ Guy LeCharles Gonzalez.
